The Puppet Store offers many different types of puppets suited for various uses and purposes. Our puppets are great for fun at home or in schools, churches, medical offices, and just about anywhere else you can think of! Other usage ideas include classroom mascots, child therapy tools, educational toys, the list goes on and on. Our website has 6 main product categories. We will briefly describe each category and the type of puppets found in those categories below. Due to the handmade nature of our puppets, they may vary slightly from pictures shown.
Glove Puppets
These are about 14-15 inches tall. Mouths and hands are movable. They do not come with an arm rod. Hand enters through the bottom of the puppet. Your pinky and thumb can be inserted into the slots on the inside of the body to operate the hands. It can be tricky at first to get everything moving at once, but the main thing is moving the mouth- which is very simple. These aren't recommended for large stage shows, but make very nice toy and budget puppets. Recommended for ages 3 and up (those with jewlery and small parts ages 5 and up).
Full / Half Body Puppets
The puppets in this category are quite simply the best, most affordable professional style puppets available for the price. They were designed from a very well known designer with years of experience in the industry. Mouths are hinged and are very easy to manipulate. All come with removable legs allowing you to use them as either a full body ventriloquist doll or behind a stage as a half body. With legs attached they are 30 inches in height. Detach the legs (using sturdy button type snaps) and they are about 20-22 inches tall. The inside of the mouths are specially designed to allow your hand to fit snugly into place without the need of straps, grips, balls, etc. Their heads and bodies are constructed from special foam and are lined with fancy nylon lycra for added comfort. One arm rod is included (additional rods available in the Accessories category) These puppets are highly recommended for church ministry and other types of performances where a great looking, high quality puppet is needed! Recommended for ages 9 and up.
Full Body Puppets
Because of their high quality but low cost, some of our best sellers can be found in this section. Sizes range from 25 - 29 inches. These are great for people just starting out with puppetry but don't want to invest just yet in the Full/Half Body puppets. They also make great gifts for anyone wanting to get into ventriloquism. Each comes with 1 arm rod (additional rods available in the Accessories category). For those who have no idea what that means (dont worry, alot of people ask!) the rod is simply clipped to either hand for movement. This is how Muppet and Sesame Street type puppets are operated. Bodies are poly-fill stuffed and are soft making them light-weight. These puppets are very durable and are made to last a lifetime. Recommended for ages 7 and up.
Marionettes
These are string operated. They have a plastic airplane-like control which, when rocked side-to-side like an airplane dipping it's wings, causes the puppet to walk, skip, hop or dance. In the past, the fun turned into a big headache when their strings got all tangled- but all of our marionettes now come with detachable strings for easy untangling! Simply pop out the peg in the control bar to remove and untangle the string and you're back in the fun!
Realistic Animals
The name says it all- all of the items in this category are very realistic looking animal puppets. Each has been meticulously designed to capture the qualities of the particular animal. Mostly all have movable mouths with hand entry through the bottom of the puppet. Please check the individual product descriptions for more detailed information regarding a particular item.
Deluxe Puppets
This section contains some of the specialty products we have available. Blacklight, sculpted face, finger, signing, and even swallowing are some of the types of puppets available in this section. If you're not too sure what all that means, please refer to the individual categories for pictures and more detailed descriptions.
